Stampin Up Marker Club - Spots Open!

Hi Everyone, I'm looking for 4 people that would be interested in taking part in a marker club that will run from February to May. Each month members will receive the following:

One Marker Collection (Subtles, Regals, Brights, & Neutrals by the end you will have all 4)
One 8 1/2 X 11 Smooth Assorted Card Stock (matching the marker Collection you get each month)
One of the following 4 individual Markers: Blush Blossom, Basic Black Stampin Write Journaler, White Uni-Ball Signo Gel Pen, Versa Marker (again by the end of the club you will have all 4)

In addition one month you will be named Host and will earn:
The Many Marvelous Markers Storage Case
$25 in host dollars

I have a tear in my eye as I write this post, this will be our last project of this Design Team Term. Hopefully I will be back after the holidays. However, before we wrap up this term we have one last fantastic project, just in time for the holidays.

Wow can you believe I've been designing for DtsArt or 8 months now! Where has the time gone? Its been an amazing journey with Dardi and the other designers at DtsArt.com. We've worked with some fantastic cut files and I've had so much fun sharing with all of you along the way. Who remembers my 1st project the Bunny Layout, or the pin wheel Birthday card or how about that cute little spinning red bird and the blue little panda. Oh there have been so many great ones along the way, one I think I got a lot of questions and comments about was the Monkey onesie and people wanted to know how I did the layers.

So I've put together a video of how I paint the layers with the freezer paper. Its a little long, I tried to edit it where I could so I hope its not to long and still makes sense! Here it is Enjoy! (after you watch continue to scroll down there are more goodies below!)

How cute are these? I've looked at the used K cups a hundred times and wished I had a way to recycle them and now I do! Dardi made this great Pilgrim hat files to recycle the K cups. I can't wait to use these on Thanksgiving, I think I will fill them with after dinner mints and use them to decorate every one's plates!

I Cut my boxes out of Stampin Ups Crumb Cake Paper, and I used the following 2 SU stamp sets to decorate these boxes: It's a Wrap Occasions (for the little chocolates), Eat Chocolate. The images were stamped in Chocolate Chip!

This week Dardi gave us these really fun little post it note holder. Its a very simple and quick file to cut, and it makes a great gift. I found these great fall post it notes at Target and I'm going to make one of these for each of my employees as a little thank you gift around thanksgiving. DtsArt Desgin team. Candy Corn Peeps

This week I'm guest designing on the other design team at DtsArt. I had to guest design when I saw these cute little Candy Corn Peeps. I already had plans to make these little pal center peaces and I thought these little Candy Corn Peeps would just look perfect in the Candy Corn pal that I had. I will be posting the other pals I made below.

Now I know I'm always bragging about how easy and great the cut falls are from DtsArt, but after doing these pals and using cut files from another site I truly can say that Dardi does an amazing job of making her cut files perfect. Everything is split by color, you don't have to go into ink scape and try to split files further or cut things in multiple colors to get all your pieces. Also you can put all the pieces on the mat and make them the size you want and they all fit correctly. I've had files where this is not the case and resizing is a nightmare! I know it takes Dardi a long time to put these files together and its clear why they are clean and easy to use!!!

I like to decorate the office I work in to give it a welcoming and homey feel so for the back to school season I made 2 of these little center pieces and a crayon wreath. They have been a huge hit.

This week we got a wonderful Milk carton cut file with holder. It came with a few options so please make sure to check out the other designers to see all the options! Files like these usually scare me but I have to say this was the easiest file I have ever worked with. You just import it into SCAL and cut, no need to play with size, everything is scored with were to fold and its just plan simple.

To spice it up I cut it out of last years Stampin Up fall patterned paper. Then decorated it with Leaves cut with Leaves #2 Big shot die, and stamped with Days of Gratitude.

Hi Ladies. Well we are up and running again at DtsArt. Did you all check out last weeks team project? They made these really neat backpacks. If you didn't already check it out make sure you head over to DtsArt to not only check out this weeks projects but last weeks. There are also some great digi stamps over there.

This week we were given a file full of fun Swirl Frames to play with, I just happened to have a layout sketch sitting on my desk that I wanted to play with and I thought these frames would be perfect. I ended up using 2 of the 5 frames. One blown up and one used very small. Here is my Layout, I hope you all Like it.

1" Circle Punch
Score Board
Mini Hand Sanitizer
Velcro

Steps:
1. Cut a strip 2" X 11"
2. Score Strip at 0.5", 1.5" 3.5", 4.5", 6.5" 7.5" 8.5"
3. Punch 1" Circle between 0.5" and 1.5" it should just over lap the 1.5" line.
4. Cut your patterned piece of paper at 1.75"X 2.25" (this is the top) and 1.75" X 1.75" (this is the bottom)
5. Cut your paper that you are going to stamp on at 1.5" X 2" (top) and 1.5" X 1.5" (bottom)
6. Stamp your design
7. Attach your cut out paper to your strip before folding. The bottom part is going to go between 1.5" X 3.5" Score lines. The top piece will go after the 8.5" score line.
8. Once all your pieces are attached slip your bottle in and then you are going to attach the 0.5" section to the 6.5" score line. I recommend using the red sticky tape for this.
9. Attach your Velcro and ribbon for closing it and caring. Then you are all set!

For the Vampire Owl I used 2 petals to make his cape. I added some fangs with a gel pen.

For the Ghost owl I just flipped one owl upside down and trimmed the feet off and you have a ghost. I also punched one out of orange to have some orange little feet sticking out. I decided to trim the ears off but you could also leave them on if you wanted to.

For Frankenstein. I used the candle from the cupcake punch to make bolts. I also cut a petal from early espresso and then cut it down until I liked it to make his hair.

They were all pretty simple but fun to make!

Baby Onesies

I wanted to send them a fun and easy one with their welcome kit and the new pear stamp found in the set Faith in Nature, that you can earn with host Dollars inspired me! Here is what I came up with:

The theme was "Party like 1980" and since Josh and my DH have been playing video games since they were little boys and the Nintendo came out in the 80's we thought a Nintendo controller would be the perfect invitation.

My mom has been hinting for awhile now that she would really like a box of cards that she could use for gifts etc, so for her birthday I made her a box (actually 2) of 40 cards. Wow what a project, they kept me busy for awhile. All the paper is stampin up. Most of the stamps are also stampin up although some are other stamps that I had from SWAPs, and the cuts are from a few different cricut Cartridges. I usually like to post the recipes for each card but there are just to many to do that this time, but if you would like details on a specific card please let me know!

This week for my DtsArt design team project I had a little boy and girl Panda bear cut to play with. I wanted to make a cute card with them and was looking for a cute little slogan to put on the card. Well who remembers that crazy Milkway commercial from 2006 where the girl comes out of the bar and says "why so blue panda bear?" Well I thought wouldn't that be the perfect saying for the front of a card with a Panda Bear on it, I thought it was! So here is what I came up with:

This week Dardi gave us the cutest little red bird to work with, and I absolutely love this little guy. I knew I would end up making a card with him, but I wanted to do something more then just a "normal" card. So I was thinking it would be fun to make him a spinner card, and then I remembered on the pooh and friends cart there is a log so I thought it would be really great to make him spinning down the log! I absolutely love how this came out, I don't think it could be any cuter.

WHO LOVES STAMPIN UP????

I DO, I DO!

In the last 2 yrs I have become addicted to Stampin Up its such a great company and their products are fantastic, and my favorite is their paper! I've officially become an SU paper snob! I have shelves and shelves of DCWV paper and I never use it, I hate how the stuff cuts in my cricut it always tears and you get those little balls of fuz on your edges and then you have that ugly white core that you have to some how cover up. Ick! When I use my Stampin up paper I never have any problems, now it is thick so I do have to set the multi cut, but I always get a nice clean cut, and no ugly white core to cover up! Plus their stamps are fantastic and I love all their punches and ribbon, and the list goes on!

So that's why I'm putting together another Stampin Up Club, I took a little break while I waited for the new catty to come out but the 2011-2012 catalog is out and let me tell you it is fantastic! Your going to love it!!!

Baby Cake

We had a small baby shower at work for my co-worker who was expecting. I volunteered to make the cake so I could play with my cricut cake. This is the first time I have used Fondant, and I have to say for my 1st time I think I did a pretty good job. Of course the cupcakes helped hide some of the imperfections! :) For the fondant I used Duffs fondant from Ace of Cakes and it was pretty yummy for fondant.

Pinwheel Card - DtsArt Design team

Hi everyone so this week at DtsArt blog we got these really fun pinwheel cuts to play with. There were 3 different shapes to choose from. I had a few fun ideas for these but since I'm just coming home from camping for the past week I decided I would keep it simple and did a fun birthday card. This weeks project combines my love of stampin up with my love of my cricut and SCAL. This week we were given a cute little sweet treat cup flower card to play with. Now this little flower can be used as its own little card, and I really encourage you to check out the other design team's projects as there are several creative ideas on how to use this cute. Dardi also did a great job giving instructions on how to use the trap door so that you can easily access the goodies within. To color the flower and tag I used the sponge daubers. I would get a little bit of ink on them and then would dab most of the ink off on a scrap paper and then rub the ink color on the flower, the flower was cute out of white paper.

This week from DtsArt we got these cute little boy and girl Giraffes to work with. They reminded me of a baby shower so I decided to use the little boy to decorate a gift bag for a friend.

I absolutely love how this came out. I hate paying more then a $1 or $2 for a gift bag but love to have a cute little bag, and this is a perfect solution. I got 12 of these little paper bags for $5.99 that's only $0.50 a bag!

My 1st DtsArt Design Team Project.

I'm really excited to be posting my first DtsArt Design Team project today. A couple weeks ago Dardi from DtsArt art sent us the cutest little boy and girl bunny cut files. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with them at first, but then I came up with the perfect idea. I've been wanting to start a recipe book for awhile and thought that what would be more perfect then stating it with our Easter tradition of Honey Bunnies, and these adorable cut files would be the perfect accent to the pages. Well here is what I came up with, I hope you love it as much as I do:

Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Invites

Do you think I could say no? Of Course not, so last weekend she came over and this is what I came up with. I had a blast making them with my friend and she was completely amazed by the whole process.

A couple weeks ago I was in my favorite section of target, the Dollar Spot when I spoted these super cute little pinwheels. I had to get some for the office as I thought they would be a fun way to decorate for spring. As soon as I had picked up one of each I relized I was going to need something to put them in and thats when I spoted the brightly colored wateringcans that just happened to match, so I grabbed one in each color also and then headed on my way. Later I went to Joann's in search of some more supplies to finsh these off so they didn't just look like a pinwheel flopping in a watercan. That's where I came up with the final idea of what these where going to look like and I don't think they could have come out any cutier, and all together I think they cost about $6-7 each to make.

This card I made special for one of the teenage girls that comes to our office for treatment. She sufferers from really bad anxiety and had basically dropped out of school. She recently went back to get her GED and has been working through the anxiety. Unfortunately she doesn't get a lot of encouragement at home so I wanted her to know we were all proud of her so I made her this card and told her how proud of her we all were and that we wanted her to keep up the hard work.

How to make Gift Card Holder:

Start with a 5 1/2 X 11 piece of paper

Step 1 - Score at 4 1/4", 5 1/2" and then flip and score at 4 1/4"

Step 2 - Fold so it makes an M shape

Step 3 - Put adhesive on the inside of the M to glue the folds together.

Step 4 - Mark 1" from each end and then using your window punch, punch slit for gift card. Only put punch half way down.

And then their you have a gift card holder:

I'm really excited about this one. I'm running out of room for my wood block stamps, but don't like unmounted rubber stamps with Aleene's tack it over and over, so I thought wouldn't it be great if I could make my own clings! So I started searching the net and found Cling Vinyl at Create For Less. I've started changing them over and its been fantastic, so I had to make a video to share with you all. I hope everyone enjoys it.

(Sorry its a little shaky to start, I was holding it so I could show you my storage, I do put it on the stand 1/2 way in, hope I don't make anyone sick)

Since I made the video, I did have a few stamps that the adhesive wasn't as sticky so I just coated it with a thin coat of my zig pen and that worked fine.

Also I was carious if anyone else has done this since I haven't heard of anyone else doing this and I did find 2 other videos, one person is using this stuff that also comes with the foam and is about $5 a sheet (that's a little bit much for my budget) and the other women scans her stamps and then prints them, not a bad idea but I think its quicker to just stamp with the staz-on. The nice part of the Grafix Cling Vinyl Sheets is both sides cling where from what I read about some of the others is only one side clings

Tile card tutorial - Jan Stampin Up Kit 2

I saw this idea a while back and absolutely loved it and when the Stampin Up's Spring mini came out with the First Edition Paper I knew I would have to be doing this as one of my card kits. I put together a step by step tutorial to make the instruction simple to follow.

Supplies:

Basic Black 8.5 X11 Card Stock

Very Vanilla Card Stock

First Edition Patterned paper

Basic Black Ink

Black Embossing Powder

Heat tool

Because I care Host Set Level 1

Black Lace

Step 1. Start with a piece of Basic Black card stock folded to 5.5" X 4.25"

2. Cut a piece of Very Vanilla to 5" X 3.75" and ink the edges with basic black ink. At the bottom I stamped the thank you from Because I Care (Host set) and embossed it with black embossing powder. Then mounted the Very vanilla a little off centered on to the basic black.

3. Next I stamped the flower from Because I Care on to a 3.5" X 3.25" piece of first edition paper and then again embossed it in black.

4. Next I cut the Img into 1/2" strips.

5. Now comes the tricky part when you cut the 1st strip you are going to cut a 1/2", 1.5", 2.5" for the next strip your going to cut it at 1", 2", and 3". For strip 3, 5 and 7 you will cut like the 1st strip and for strips 4 & 6 you want to cut them like the 2nd strip. This will give you that "brick" look.

6. Next you want to attach your "bricks" to your card I like to lay them out before gluing them down to play with positioning and which ones to keep and which ones to leave off.

7. Add a piece of lace around the card and tie a bow, and your card is complete!

This one I'm really excited about. Do you all remember when I first posted pictures of my scraproom how I had the cork board and dry erase board in front of my desk. Well I absolutely loved them, the problem was the only way to attach it to the was was with adhesive and for some reason that just didn't want to hold to my walls so it keep falling down. So this is what I came up with:

A few weeks ago Karen from http://karens-kakes-krafts.blogspot.com/ (One of my new favorite blogs, she's very talented not only with paper but with cakes. Please make sure you check her out) awarded me with this great blog award. With all that's been going on between my job and home life I have not had a chance to post it until tonight, but things are starting to slow and I've wanted to get this up!

I find it kind of funny that the night Karen was awarded this award was the night the Patriots where knocked out of the running for the Superbowl, and tonight as I post I sit here watching 2 other teams play in the Superbowl, wishing Karen and I were cheering for our Favorite team the New England Patriots. Oh well there's always next yr right? And hey, Brady did get MVP!

This has taken me longer then I hoped to get posted this was one of my November Stampin Up Kits, its taken me a little while to figure out how to post a video but now I know what I'm doing so stay tuned for more! :)

Have I mentioned lately how much I love this cute little owl stamp? I've been wanting to try him on a spinning card and I just love how this came out. I also made my 1st video, so please be kind while watching it. I don't have an actual video camera and had some difficulties with my camera.

I used a zig pen to adhere the owl to the pennies. Then I just popped the pennies in the slot. You need to use pop dots to mount the top piece of paper to the card.

New Toy!

OMG I am one lucky girl. I loved the idea of the cricut cake but could not justify the cost of the machine with my DH out of work and I really don't have the space for another large machine. So I was really excited when the mini came out, and when I saw it was on sale for $99.99 on black Friday I was really sad that I couldn't pick it up. Well what I didn't know is my wonderful DH called his mom and told her about it and she went and got it for me for Christmas!!! I'm so excited and can't wait to play with it.

This is a project I've been meaning to post for awhile now but haven't had a chance to. A couple of months ago my DH and I finally replaced our food cabinet that didn't make our move last fall so successfully. When we were putting the new one together my husband got a little heavy handed and put one of the pegs all the way through so we had to come up with away to cover it up.

I decided I would finally do the chalk board paint that I've been dieing to do since I saw it on trading spaces so many years ago! While I was at target I found these coffee decals so I added them to the edge to add a little more.

Here is a picture of it all dressed up for our Christmas Party.

Christmas Ornaments.

Every year I make an ornament for everyone in my family. I didn't get to take a picture of all of them because it was getting late and I had to get them wrapped but here are pictures of the one I did for DH and myself. They look even better in person.

Supplies:

Stamp:
Punch Pals

Ink:

Bic Marker
White Pigment ink pad (I used a la mode, that I found at Joann's)

Other:
Glass ornaments
Transparency sheets (I bought mine by the sheet from the printing dept at office max, if you want to buy a box of them the only come in 50 or 100 and are very pricey)
Chunky clear glitter (I also found this at Joann's)
1/8 whole punch
string

1. Cut a circle out of the transparency about a 1/2 smaller then the diameter of your ornament. I used my cricut for this.

2. Using Staz on ink stamp on your img.

3. If you want to add writing you want to do this now before flipping the img over to color. I wrote every one's name and the year using a sharpie.

4. Flip circle over and color with markers, I put a piece of masking tape at the top to help hold it in place and to keep from getting to many finger prints on the transparency.

5. Using a sponge (I used q-tips) color in the snow man by dabbing your sponge on the white ink pad and then on your snow man.

Before moving on to the next step I recommend giving him a little time to dry

6. punch a small 1/8" whole in the top of the circle and put a small piece of string through. I used stampin ups clear tinsel trim.

7. Set aside your transparency and fill the bottom of your ornament with glitter

8. Next roll your circle small enough to get through the opening, you want the shinny side (stamped side) out, and push through. Make sure you hold on to the string.

9. Adjust your transparency to where you want it and then pull the string over the edge and put the top back on, the top should hold the strings in place. Trim off an excess.

Directions:

1. lightly sand the smooth side of the domino, you just want to take the coating off. Make sure you don't sand to far down or your ink will run.

2. Stamp your img on using Staz on ink

3. Color the img with Bic or Sharpie Markers

4. Spray domino's with a clear coat, I used a mate finish. I did 2 coats and after I spread the 2nd one I sprinkled a very fine coat of glitter into the wet clear coat.

5. Glue pin backs on, and thats it.

The Word Window Large punch from SU would have been perfect for his feathers, unfortunately I don't have that punch yet so I cut little rectangles and then used my corner rounder punch.

My new pretty pink ATG and Altered Pink Stand.

The stand took a ton of work. I ended up doing it twice. The first time I didn't use a primer and the pink paint I bought just got sucked into the wood, so I had to strip the paint off and sand it and then start from scratch. The second time I primed it 1st and then painted it black. I then cut the shapes with vinyl and then spray painted it again in pink. Before the last coat of paint dried I sprinkled glitter into the wet paint, once it was dried I pulled off the vinyl and there you have it.

Christmas Stocking Box Tutorial.

Stocking Box Supplies (all Stampin UP):

I found the idea for this craft on Papertery Ink and I think they are super cute. I plan to make a bunch of this for Christmas and fill them with goodies.

To make these I started with a piece of Cherry Cobbler (I think this is one of my new favorite colors) cut to 9 14/16" X 3 10/16" , I then scored it with my scor pal at 3 9/16" and 6 1/4" If you are using the score pal there is an arrow at the 3 10'16" mark, to make it easy I scored one side and then flipped it and scored the other side.

Then going length wise I scored it a 1/2" in on both edges.

Next I cut little slits so I could fold them up.

And then uses my ATG gun to add some adhesive.

Next using the template I cut 2 stocking pieces out of the cherry cobbler and 2 out of the Holly Jolly paper, and I cut the toe and heel parts out of old olive. Last I cut a piece of whisper white to 3 10/16" x 1 1/4" for the top of the stocking, and a piece of holly jolly to 3 10/16" X 1/2" for the loop. Before I assembled everything I inked the edges and drew stitches, and there you have a cute little stocking box.

Owl Punch.

A few weeks ago I broke out the owl punch I got from SU and started playing. I think this is just one of the curtest punch ever.

Here are all the goodies I made:

I covered these cards with the brown waffle paper from SU to make it look like a tree, then I punched a whole and put the owl on the inside to make him look like he was hiding in the tree.

The inside, I stamped this owls belly with the Because I care set, to give him the pretty flowers. The sentiment is from stem sayings set.

For the outside owls I stamped their bellies with sweet scoops, the senament is from Heard from the heart, and the background was cut using the top note die.

Here are some owl book marks.

Notebook and matching book mark. I used the waffle paper to cover the notebook then cut a piece of very vanilla with the top note punch. The branch is actually supposed to be a flower from the watercolor trio set, and again I stamped this owls belly with the sweet scoops set.

For the book mark I used the Curly Label punch to give it a similar look.

Instructions

1. Cut Cajun Craze strips to ¾” by 6” Stack 12 to 14 strips, and punch holes in both ends using Crop-A-Dile. Secure strips together on one end using Silver 5/16" Jumbo Brad, and fan out into circle shape. To form into sphere, secure other end of strips together using second Silver 5/16" Jumbo Brad.

2. Cut Old Olive card stock to 1/8” by 8.5” Spray thin strips of Old Olive Card Stock with water, and wrap around dowel or Stampin' Write Marker. Allow to dry, then remove from marker.

3. Cut leaves from Autumn Spice Designer Series Paper using Big Shot and Leaves #2 Originals Die. Adhere leaf and curly stem from previous step to top of each pumpkin using Stampin' Dimensionals.

4. Stamp leaf image in Old Olive ink on Whisper White Card Stock. Cut out, and adhere one to larger leaf to the top of pumpkin using Stampin' Dimensionals.

5. Adhere button one to top of each pumpkin.

Tips:
~ I put the brads in upside down so the tops are inside the pumpkin
~ I secured them on both ends and then took half and pulled it around to the other side, then spread them out one by one. I found if you pushed the pile in a little it made it easier to get them apart.

Last weekend I had a girls day out with my mom and 2 nieces, and we went to Creative Sparks. Creative Sparks is a cute little ceramic shop. I couldn't decide what I wanted to paint so I decided to do a mosaic instead. Here's what I did:

Will you be my bridesmaid card

I made this card over a month ago but was waiting for it to be posted on the wedding with the cricut blog but that's not looking like its going to happen, so I'm going to go ahead and post it as I think it looks awesome.

This project is for all those brides out there. One of the new theme’s in wedding planning is to send a card to the girls asking them to be in your bridal party. Brides are including these cards in a small package of goodies, or with a note about how important that person is to them.

Here is the card that I came up with.

To get the girls to stand up on the inside I used these pop up cards that I found at a stamping expo. You can find these cards at www.denamidesign.com if you’re interested; they are the three column. I bought a few different types to use as templates to make my own. I used another one to make a template for all of you. I wrote the measurements on it for you to see. It’s a bit hard to see in the picture but the dotted lines are the ones one top of each of the little columns.

If you cut and score as you are supposed to the card should look like this

Once I had my card cut and scored I covered the outside with the black poka-dotted paper, cut to 5.5” X 8.5”, which is from Me&My Big Ideas in their Mambi pack. Then using the Story book cartridge, I cut the Brushed silver paper from SU. I set the cricut to 4.5”, and blackout, shift and then Marquee 4. For the White I used Glossy White from SU and did the same as above but used the fancy corner key instead of black out. I cut the letters at 0.75” cutting twice once on shadow using Basic Black from SU and once with no keys set with Very Vanilla from SU.

For the inside I used the measurements posted above to cut my paper to fit around the area that popped up. I then cut the girls from the Forever Young Cartridge. The “bride” is model 19, and the Bridesmaids are model 20. I cut all at 2.5”. The brides dress is cut using the Glossy White paper. To do the Bridesmaids, I cut 2 normally and then the other 2 with the flip key on. I then cut just their dresses out of Basic Black, then with the layer key I cut the dress again using Real Red.

I’ve had this card in my head for awhile before I made it, and I was really surprised at how easily this card went together. I hope you all enjoyed today’s project!
